Not the original, but…
Wanted the original Dr. Scholls with the wooden sole, but they are too expensive these give the same look and feel of the original with out the price of the original.

Not wood like original Dr SCholls
I have always loved these sandals, but why did they change the base to rubber/plastic? I was hoping they were just like the original and be made of wood. Oh well, I still like them!

Not the real thing
But for the price and for walking out to the pool in the morning through the wet grass,. Perfect!Thought they originally were lower cost because of patterns on straps. But NOT wooden soles. Buckle is not functional, but has Velcro to adjust fit.And maybe it’s my old legs and feet, but I’m not as sturdy on these as i was back in the 70s. Have to be very careful, afraid I’ll slip and twist an ankle or break a leg. Whereas years ago. I wore these all day, every day. But still fun to wear!

Not what I remember
I wore these for years way back when I was a teenager. Fast forward 50 years and I needed a sandal with an adjustable strap because I have an exceptionally high instep, and I remembered good old Dr. Scholl’s Exercise Sandals. They arrived today and the first thing I noticed was they are not made of wood anymore, and next that the metal slide is now only decorative, the strap closes with Velcro. At first I was disappointed they weren’t exactly as I remembered, but after wearing them a bit, I realized these changes were improvements. The base gives a bit, which improves comfort, and the strong Velcro closure allows an exact fit. So I am very happy with my purchase. Not everything was better in the good old days.

Just wish that they were made to last longer
I used to wear the wooden style of these shoes for years, but those are now too hard for my feet. Tried this new material and loved it. The soles have a slight give and the top can be adjusted with Velcro, which I do not mind, BUT the shoes look nice only for a short time. The soles wear off both on the bottom AND on the top, so they start to look “old and dirty” very fast (which you cannot clean). The top strap (depending on the color) also looks terrible after while. Given that these are not cheap, I wish that they used better quality materials, and also do not end up in the landfill after just a few months.

Not the real Dr. Scholl’s
I purchased these thinking that they were like the old Dr. Scholl’s with the wooden bottoms. Like everything else nowadays they are a rubber kind of bottom. They are not horrible. Just not what I expected.

Velcro
I first wore the original leather upper – wooden sole Dr. Scholl’s sandal when I was a kid in the 70s. As iconic as they were, they were never really comfortable. And they were loud! Clacking on the floor and slapping the bottom of your foot. I recall they fell out of vogue by the 90s and you could buy them for $9 a pair at Caldor (east coast discount store). Fast forward to 2000 and they’re back in department stores for $50. Way to rebrand, Dr S! I first tried the synthetic sole about 10 years ago and I love them. They have the same look without the pain of that “speed bump” behind your toes in the wooden sole. The only reason I don’t give them 5 stars is the Velcro closure. It is not mentioned in the description and you can’t see it — until you go back to the pictures and look for it. They still have the buckle but it’s only for show, it’s not adjustable. To me, Velcro closure shoes are for toddlers, not adults. Kind of cheesy, actually. I probably wouldn’t have bought them if that detail had been in the description, but it’s not off-putting enough to make me return them.

Does not fit the way they used to fit and they have changed the buckle to velcrow
I gave these a 3 star because they have changed the sizing. I am 72 years old and have worn this style of Dr Scholl’s since I was in my 20’s. Back then they were wooden. The change to plastic soles was fine, especially as I got older, but now they have changed the size and the fit. The buckle used to be an actual buckle but now it is just a faux buckle with a velcrow closure. The shoe itself also seems just a bit smaller and so the fit is off. Not comfortable like my other three pair. Such a shame they have sacrificed quality.

Love Dr. Scholl’s Sandals
these “Classic” Dr. Scholl’s Sandals did not come in 5 so I bought a size 6. My foot measures a 5 but I often wear a 5.5. I love Dr. Scholl’s sandals. This the “Classic” is a firm plastic sole. The wood sole is “Original” Dr. Scholl’s, cost too much $$ but it is wood and leather. The “Rock” Dr. Scholl’s is a softer foamier looking plastic sole than the “Classic.” The “Rock” sandals wear out in about 2 years. These are kind of a weird blue but I like it. I have another pair of the “Classic” Dr. Scholl’s sandals that I seldom wear (really odd red and blue stripe that looks like orange and black to people) so I want to see if these wear better than the “Rock” Dr. Scholl’s sandals. Seems they should. The rest of the shoe is synthetic too but it looks more like leather than the “Rock” Dr. Scholl’s which all I have ever bought are a shiny vinyl look. I don’t walk out of the “Classic” sandals as often as I remember walking out of the Dr. Scholl’s with a wood sole in the 1970s but I have and it hurts less in the “Classic” Dr. Scholl’s than it did with a wood sole.

cheap and uncomfortable. fake buckle.
So disappointed in these. I had real Dr. Scholl’s in the 70’s with the real wood soles, and those things lasted forever! These are horrid. The footbed is hollow and feels like it is going to cave in on you. The plastic foot strap is too rigid and cuts into your foot, and never breaks in. Can’t adjust properly because the buckle is fake – cheap plastic with a chrome coating that will never stand up to wear and tear. There is a velcro strip under the buckle area, but that doesn’t feel like it will hold half-size adjustments. Foot bed is too long. A waste of money. I never wore them because of all the issues above. If you do order them anyhow, go a half size down.

Not what I remember
Was so excited to buy a pair after wearing them back in the 80’s. But they seemed very unsupported; strap is high on foot & with wood base I thought I’d get hurt. Looked great but not functional for me. Ended up returning them.

Newer version of old favorite clog
After breaking my foot, again in the same area, my Orthopedist ordered me to wear a carbon insert in my shoe and stiff slippers or sandals, rather than my usual sports recovery slippers that he said are too soft and flexible. He had recommended a different, more expensive, brand, but I remembered my old “pals” from my college days. As part of the ballet troupe, our Director required us to wear the Dr. Scholl’s then wooden sole clogs during some rehearsals because she could tell when we were out of synch. 🤣 But, they were so comfortable and made our feet strong. So, I ordered these, now with a synthetic “wood” sole. I have ridiculously high arches and need more support than these provide; otherwise, I am strengthening my foot wearing them and my Orthopedist would be pleased. I took this photo while wearing my boot socks when outdoor temps were in the teens; had just recently received the clogs.Pros: sturdy, stiff foot support; fits as expected; non-slip soleCons: somewhat slippery upper; little arch support

These are a hazard to your health
I reviewed these sandals soon after getting them and gave them a 5-star rating. They were comfortable and I really loved them. I have to drastically change my rating, however, due to the way these new sandals slip off the foot. Two years ago as I was getting on a plane, I was wearing these sandals. As I walked down the ramp to board the plane, my foot slipped out and down I went. I got hurt so badly that the airline wanted to me go to the hospital. The only reason they let me fly was that there were 3 different doctors on board who said they would monitor me on the flight. The airline actually arranged for me to have the middle aisle of seats so they could create a makeshift bed allowing me to keep my leg iced and elevated the entire flight. It was a long, painful, horrible trip home. The following day I went to my doctor and was told that I had severe contusions running from my ankle up to my thigh.I was on crutches for weeks, and just assumed that I had been klutzy and the fall was just “one of those things.” Not thinking that the sandal itself was the cause for my fall, I went and bought myself another pair this past summer. During the summer months, I slipped out of these shoes about three different times. Nothing bad, but I was able to catch myself or grab onto a tree as I thought I was about to fall. I chalked it up to walking too fast and thought it was probably my fault, although I made a point of being very careful whenever I put them on. Fast forward to Sept. 2017.Again, I was traveling overseas and was wearing these sandals. On our final day in London, I had my Dr. Scholl’s on as we were heading back to our hotel. Sunny day, strolling along the street, I once again walked right out of these shoes and down I went. My injury this time was even worse than the last time. As I was wheeled in a wheelchair through the airport, my husband stopped, looked down at me and said, “These are the same sandals you were wearing when you fell the last time and got hurt so badly,” It all clicked. He was right. I am writing this to warn you to not buy these sandals. My injuries were serious and I don’t want anyone else to have to deal with the pain that I’ve had to endure. My knees still ache from my fall and I’m now looking at surgery.

Not Your 70’s Sandals!
In fairness, I have a very narrow, small-boned foot (ok, two of them…) so my fit is kind of unusual. Having said that, I took a chance knowing that the man made material would probably dig into my toes. I was right. Two such little pieces of leather and they couldn’t use leather? These would be perfect with soft leather tops! The footbed and sole are great. The footbed is really well-cushioned, and comfy to walk on. I even think the faux buckle and hook-and-loop are cute. Love the overall style. I’ll just add some padding to the top part, and pray that some day they’ll use leather and make the perfect sandal. I bought the white, and they just seem to look cool and classy with everything. I might even buy the classic tan. Nice to see them around again.

Some Styles are Leather with Metal Buckles
The material the shoe is made of depends on the style of the shoe. The leather ones with the metal buckles are the White, Tan and Elegant Navy. The buckle lifts up to unlock it so you can adjust the width. The shoes that are made of faux leather are the Black, Coral and Gardenia cutouts. The White/Navy, Silver and the Silver/Taupe are a shiny made made material and they just like the cutout colors have a sliding buckle to change the width.Unfortunately for me, the leather ones will fit a wider foot. I wear a 7 1/2 B(M) and have a slightly narrow foot and I could not wear this style. And tightening the strap wouldn’t work because then it was so small that I couldn’t even get my foot under the strap. This is not a problem with the other pairs that I bought.I bought 3 pairs of these shoes and my absolute favorites are the White/Navy and the Coral cutout. They are so comfortable and the Coral one really looks classy. And even though the White/Navy doesn’t go with as many outfits; it is a great price and they are so cute. Both of these shoes have a very cushy, comfortable and supportive footbed. My least favorite pair that I bought is the Silver/Taupe (a pretty bone khaki color) because underneath the strap is a blue jean colored fabric that does not have much give in it. I can’t wear these shoes for long periods. They also do not have the same footbed as the other 2 pairs and the shoes are heavierI have a bad back and can’t wear shoes normally over 1″ but because the platform on these is 3/4″ then the 1 1/2″ heel only feels like 3/4″.And I am so glad I am able to wear pretty shoes again that makes my back feel better.

Super comfortable!!! And cute!!!
Wow…glad I didn’t read all the negative reviews first!!I returned a $300.00 pair of Tory Burch sandal/clogs because the leather cut into the tops of my feet, they were too wide and clunky/heavy on my feet!I saw these Dr. Scholls and ordered. Oh my gosh! Soooo comfortable!! Ok, so not like the original wooden ones, but I think they are better!! Sooooo comfortable and lightweight! They are not hard plastic, but also, they aren’t bendable. They feel cushiony too!!! So comfortable!!! Not clunky, not loud when you walk!! True to size and not wide!! Love them!!! And, they are a great price!! I know I will be wearing these a lot this summer! Make my legs look nice too. That’s always a plus!! I just ordered 3 more pairs! Love the tan color too! And still, 4 pairs are less expensive than one pair of Tory Burch, that kill my feet!!

Cute and comfortable!
These are a departure from the originals but are still great sandals. Slight cushion (not wood) vegan (not leather) velco close (the slide buckel is a really good fake). Been wearing them since they arrived and must say be cautious they may make your feet a tad sore. The idea behind the original was to exercise your feet, so until you’re 100% used to them they’ll make them a little sore.

Good shoe but new version
I loved the old Dr. Scholls wooden slides so I bought these as a new replacement. I knew they weren’t the original and likely would never find those but these have been a satisfactory alternative. The rubber sole and platform is more cushioning than I thought which was a good thing and the front upper is comfortable with no issues. The only reason I docked 1 star was due to the inferior quality of rubber instead of wood and velcro instead of buckles compared to the original. Otherwise, nice shoe that’s worth it to have the look of the older popular sandal.

Too wide
I had such hope! Despite the Velcro closure the base of the shoe was just too wide so the front of my foot slipped way out the front and ,well, I couldn’t quite walk around like that it would be very unattractive.

Don’t be fooled.
I’m very disappointed by this purchase. I’ve probably owned 4 or 5 pairs of Dr. Schol’s exercise sandals in my life. My last pair was lost in a home relocation. I recently accepted a challenge to take a minimum of 10,000 steps per day. I’m doing okay with it – but it’s hard on my feet and I thought the exercise sandals would make it more beneficial, anyway; so I bought this sandal, sold by Dr. Schol’s, based on the picture and my memories. This is not the exercise sandal – though it is made to look just like itt (right up to ‘wood grain texture’ in the composite sole. The tops are plastic, not leather, and pinch your toes in a way the real sandals never did. They have the real looking buckle – for appearances only – they are fastened with velcro. They won’t fulfill my intention, because the ridge under the middle of the toes is missing, so you cannot manage the Dr. Schol’s exercise ‘slap’ with every step. They might still offer the real sandal; but I’ve lost my enthusiasm for them. These are probably serviceable, and I will wear them; but don’t be fooled by fond memories and photos.

Best sandals out there!
I have worn Dr. Scholl’s sandals since high school (am now 70) in summer and winter. I buy a new pair every year at the end of summer and put away until the next spring and I’m ready to go! NEVER have leg or knee problems and these sandals are the reason!

Look and feel cheap
These were true to size and lightweight. They don’t feel at all like the old school wooden ones – the sole feels plasticky. The buckle is not functional, they close with velcro. That’s fine, but the buckle is just cheap looking gold-tone material. I wanted to like them. I looked at them for a few days, but I ended up returning them.

Hmmmm
So I bought these shoes in August and as you can see the bottoms they are already coming to a point of needing to be replaced. And that’s just August this year. While supportive, I expected they were the wood normal Dr Scholls shoes I’ve had before. The price was a steal and I thought it was a great sale, sadly not the case. These are a low budget version of them.Would I buy this style again, NOPE! I’ve worn them maybe 7 times for a couple hours each time. So let the picture tell the story. They don’t last long!I’d rather pay $100 for lasting shoes (what used to be maybe $60). Disappointed Dr Scholls!!

Super cute throwback!
These are adorable. The bottom is a hard memory foam type material, it is not wood. This makes the sandal much more comfortable. It is also much quieter when walking through the halls at school. You still get the satisfying slapping sound though!

Love, Love Love!!! Super Comfy!!
I like alot of you grew up in the 70’s and had every color of the Original Dr. Scholl’s Wooden Sandals! I loved them! They were extremely comfortable, but I will not pay the price they are asking for them today! Back in the 70’s they were like 20 bucks! They were a constant on my feet!! Oh how I long for them for all my adult years, I’m now 55….With that being said, I ordered the white ones with the plastic/ rubbery bottom! Just got them today, put them on and I love them! They are amazing and comfortable to walk in!! I will be getting more colors! Don’t knock these, give them a try…..you might be extremely happy with them as I am!!! The fit is amazing, the comfort is beyond and they are extremely light weight! Quit knocking them, these are amazing!!!

Poor Quality. Straps and soles wears out quickly.
These shoes are not the original wooden sandal. The base is made out of what seems like plastic. I have bought two pair and both wore out very quickly. The straps and soles are very poor quality and not meant for daily use. I have tried to reach out to the company, but there is not contact information on the Dr. Scholl’s website. If you love this style like I do, pay the extra money to get the original wooden style.

Structure of shoe has changed
I have several pairs of these that I still wear from back in the day. These now attach with Velcro instead of the adjustable bar-in-hole closure, plus the band area is hard, and not white. I could just see the Velcro releasing as I walked and me walking/falling out of this new model. Bad change by this manufacturer. Probably cheaper to use Velcro than the bar-in-hole closure. No longer for me.

I wore Dr.Scholl’s clogs many yrs.ago, I was so happy to see them back again. The originals were wood, however, the new clogs are a type of faux wood which are comfortable and much quieter than the wood. The fit is true to size.
