This is the only style my husband wears. It arrived in good condition and fits wonderfully. After ordering I found that the price was much less at Dicks but I kept them anyway.

Hopefully, a worthwhile piece of gear for a City Meter Reader.
As of 02/11/2015 I have owned these Nike Monarchs for approximately one month so far. The intended sole purpose of this purchase is the need of a pair of comfortable walking shoes, for my job as a city meter reader and after work activities. And in this area the Monarchs really excels, its like I’m walking on air and my feet thanks me for it each work day. The only con so far is like other reviewers have already stated that the Monarchs do squeek; and its quite embarrassing.(yes i’m aware of the solutions to remedy this flaw). In the durability area, the monarchs are still in the testing phase; but so far I dont have any stitching fail or other problems so far. Mind you, you have to know that in my work environment I literary walk non-stop for a eight hour shift in all types of abrasive environments rain or shine. Typically I usually expect to have my shoes replaced in a two to three month period, so hopefully I get my money’s worth out of these puppies. I will post updates for the next two months and convey further my thoughts on this product. Thank you05/23/2015 update: Sadly at the two month mark of ownership, my Nike Monarchs failed. The left shoe blew a seam and my right shoe the uppers separated from the outsole near the toe area by two inches in length. (Mind you I walk an average of 6-9 miles per workday). But from the get go these Monarchs were the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever worn, If only nike fixes the squeak issues and tweak up the durability I would wholeheartedly recommend these shoes to any utilities meter reader and/or postal service worker. So I will minus one more star for the durability aspect of these shoes.

Very comfortable and rugged shoe
Great shoe, but they start to squeak after a few months of wear. Has happened in most pairs I have had, meaning probably 20 pair.

Great shoe
Purchased for my son. He does allot of running and sports. Some times two sports practice a night. If he doesn’t have the right shoes his feet start to hurt. He loves the feeling of these and feels like they have more spring in his jump.

Great shoe, but after wearing them only a week they are already starting to squeak.
I have four pairs of Nike Air Monarchs in different colors. I rotate them weekly.Very good shoe for an old fat man. Just started wearing them this week and while they are good looking and comfortable they are now already squeaking. Very frustrating, especially at work.

A good shoe, but it squeaks.
The Air Monarch has been a good shoe for me for a long time — not perfect, but better than most. I can wear these because they are avail in the 4E width — most everything else is too tight in the toe compartment. These lace up nicely, provide good support for a low-top shoe, & fit my foot well enough to be fairly comfortable. Unfortunately, like some of the other reviews state, some of these shoes SQUEAK. I have 3 of these latest “IV Versions”, & one pair squeaks from the left shoe when I walk. OK, I’ll use that one for doing yardwork — the squirrels won’t mind. These shoes are WAAAY overpriced, so I shop them down as best I can. I just hope that the soles do NOT come UNglued long before the shoe has been worn much, like 2 other pairs did a few years ago — yeah, now they have Adhesives that are programmed to fail after a few years, forcing you to buy another pair — “Planned Obsolescence”.

My current favorite tennis shoe
Man, does that age me or what? “Tennis shoes” is what we used to call sneakers “back in the day”. My Brit friend calls hers “trainers”. Anyway – these are comfortable and very well-made SNEAKERS that have got me through the past 5 years of heavy walking/exercise. I’ve replaced them twice, so figure that’s about 18 months per pair, but I’m VERY hard on my shoes, lots of trails and things like that, as well as urban hiking. The most recent pair developed a split in the black rubber on the front of the toe, so it would allow rocks to get in if I dragged my feet while walking. A little black duct tape would have fixed it just fine, but decided it was time to break in a 3rd pair. LOVE THESE SHOES!

Would not order again
A few years back I was involved in an automobile accident and now suffer with neuropathy in both of my feet. I was never picky about shoes beforehand, but now I find that they need to fit a certain way or my feet really suffer with an unbearable burning sensation. I discovered some time back by accident that the Nike Monarch’s in wide are extremely comfortable while wearing and my Neuropathy does not bother me nearly as much. The pain has become much more manageable and most of the time the symptoms are nonexistent. Needless to say these are pretty much my go to shoes these days even though that do not last very long as the bottoms of the shoes start separating from the rest of the shoe. Despite this major flaw in manufacturing, I still purchase them due to comfort. Unfortunately, I ordered a size 12 wide as I always do but received a size 12.5 instead which only makes the shoe longer and not wider. I did not notice the error when they came in and wore the shoes to work the following day. Needless to say I figured out very quickly that they were the wrong size as I had to suffer with the burning sensation once again until I arrived home later that evening and could take them off. Because the shoes were worn and now show signs of wear, I am unable to return them. Total waste of money. The shoes also did not arrive in an original Nike box. If they had I may have caught the mistake before wearing them. I’d also like to make note that this particular pair that I received were very squeaky and loud. I mean obnoxiously and embarrassingly loud. You could here me coming from a mile away….no joke!!! Anyway, I will not be purchasing these again online and will go directly to the Nike outlet for future purchases sadly enough. I gave two stars as the shoes arrived quickly, but not as described. I hope this helps someone. Buyer beware.

Shoe squeaks
I purchased a pair of Air Monarchs. Right out of the box, the right shoe squeaked when I walked. I figured that the shoe needed to be “broken in” so I ignored it. It is now 2 months later and the right shoe still squeaks. I don’t even need to be wearing the shoe. I can put my hand in the shoe and just by pressing on the sole will cause it to squeak. It is passed the return date so I am stuck with these. Just beware, if your new Nike squeaks, return it right away.

One Shoe String Shorter Than The Other
Love this shoe model and size because they fit properly. The only problem is that one shoe string was 56 inches and the other shoe string is 52 inches. This creates two problems: 1. The shorter string is a bit more difficult to tie due to the lack of length. 2. Once tied, the bow on one foot looks normal and the bow on the other foot looks stunted. I’m not sure why they couldn’t get two shoe strings that equal 56 inches.

Good product and price
Have wide foot so many sneakers sold won’t get past my toes. They are that small. I have tried on many in stores only to leave without any. The Monarch sneaker fits really good. I have used it for over 7 years always buying a new pair without even looking for any other brand. Most footwear is highly overpriced and hardly worth the money when you learn the true cost to produce them. Monarch, according to price standards, as within the norm and held up well.

Great while they last
Super-duper happy foot comfort, but they are not as well built as they used to be a decade ago. Nike has been making these shoes since the beginning of time. They used to last a good long time, but the current day version only lasts 9 to 18 months before the glue that is used to hold the sole on to the leather upper begins to come undone. The comfort level score is still a 10, but the build quality score is a 6.

Extremely comfortable…size up half size if buying regular fit.
If you are thinking, as Nike says…JUST DO IT. My first pair of Nike in probably 20 years. Already plan to order in another color or 2. Love Love Love em. I tried on the all white in a store and 12 extra wide were really loose on my feet, so I took a chance on these 12 regular and hit a home run!If you have wider feet definitely go with the wide as regular will definitely be too tight. And the wide is wider than most shoes in wide.I went with 12. Usually 11.5. Glad I went with 12. A perfect fit. Not sure what else to say.

They are comfortable although I wish they had more colors. And mine are obviously faulty, so we’ll see how it goes.

Awesome
Great shoe for my active 12-yr old son. Super comfortable and well-made. We’ll be buying them again! These shoes have a real “tongue” (unlike the crummy ones that are all sewn together in one piece with no real tongue and are hard to get your foot into).

An accurate 4E
I bought these for basketball because it seems that no shoe manufacturer makes specifically wide widths in basketball shoes, much less any width that even comes close to fitting my Fred Flintstone feet. And running shoes don’t provide the support I apparently need. I tried the “wide” basketball shoes recommended by various websites (LeBrons, TMacs, Dames, etc.) but it was like trying to put my 6-year-old’s shoes on. To be fair, I haven’t tried New Balance’s bball shoes–they don’t come in wide widths specifically, but NB tends to run wider overall. However, I could not bring myself to wear a shoe whose design looks like it was stolen from a billboard in the background of any random scene in Blade Runner. The Monarchs are comfortable with excellent cushioning. I normally wear a 4E in New Balance and Clarks, and a wide in Keens, and the width on these works very well for me, which is the most important feature for me. Overall, I find they’re quite…padded, for lack of a better word–especially in the tongue and upper. So they might require a tiny bit of breaking in.My only complaint is that the insole is very thin and I’m not sure if it’s intended to be removed. I did remove it to check, and I could tell that I was separating a layer of weak adhesive; the insoles came out perfectly intact, though, and I have since reinstalled them with no issues. I normally would wear a custom orthotic with these, but it seems like it might be a tight squeeze. I haven’t tried that yet, as my orthotics are pretty rigid, and it’s clear that being away from the court for 10 years has had an effect on my knees that the cushioning helps mitigate. And OK, yes: These are the quintessential dad shoes. There’s no getting around that. But I’m a middle-aged dad who’s not playing ball with a bunch of teenagers. I also don’t really care that much what other people think of something that has absolutely nothing to do with them. So the math on that is fairly easy to do. Admittedly, though, I bought the all-black version and added a set of blue laces, which sort of (?) begins to maybe make them look slightly cooler. I’m very happy with my purchase, overall.

Squeaky Shoe !!!! ??
I waited to do the review because I wanted to wear them in a little . Shoes are great other than they make squeaky noise when I walk . I don’t think a Nike shoe should do that ?? At least I have never owned a Nike shoe that makes squeaky noises when you walk . Again this appeared a few weeks after purchasing and wearing them in . I still give shoe a 4 star review .

Great shoes
Have found these shoes great for comfort on the balls of my feet. After many tries and many different brands these are the only shoes that give me the extra cushion on the balls of my feet (flat part behind toes). I stand on a concrete floor all day so the extra cushion is required for me.

Fit great, feel great. I don’t walk so well anymore. Last pair of shoes I wore hurt my feet immediately after putting them on. Made being able to walk even harder.First day I put these on I wore them all day long and by the end of the night my feet still felt great.

Overall, acceptable, but…..
This seems to be an acceptable shoe, but, the front flap on the sole, separates from the sole after awhile. Seems, a little super glue takes care of that, but, why should I have to do that??!!!
